History of Living Word Church of Open HeartLiving Word Church of Open Heart began on Sunday, February 18, 2007 with a call from God to Dr. Walter and Mother Louise Swinson to establish a local church in the Yeadon, PA area. Dr. Swinson was officially installed as the Pastor of Living Word on March 25, 2007 and the church was submitted under the covering of Open Heart Church International founded by Bishop Robert and Mother Maxine Hanna. The church and teaching ministry was established with a mission to obey Christ’s commands by evangelizing the world and making disciples to build God’s kingdom and serve others.It was at the location in Yeadon, PA that Living Word celebrated the first installations, unity day, and anniversaries. In order to maintain our mission and to expand our outreach, Living Word Church of Open Heart moved to our current location at 4815 North Front Street in North Philadelphia in 2010. Shortly after attending the Annual Open Heart Church International Conference in South Carolina, Dr. Walter Swinson went home to be with the Lord on July 6, 2010. Dr. Swinson preached the Gospel of Jesus Christ with boldness and conviction. It was evident in his ministry that Dr. Swinson desired to seek and save the lost by giving the lost Jesus. His love for God compelled him to share God's faithfulness with others. To continue building on the foundation that was laid on Dr. Swinson’s heart, Elder Seward Johnson, who was the Assistant Pastor, accepted the responsibility of being the Interim Pastor of Living Word Church of Open Heart. Pastor Johnson was officially installed as Pastor of the church on June 24, 2011 by Overseer Derrick Hanna which was held at Open Heart Church of Philadelphia. Living Word Church of Open Heart is a “nice” church where members experience the love of God through Spirit-filled worship services, programs and enrichment services, and of course, Godly fellowship one with another. The Word of God is preached uncompromisingly “to edify, build up and encourage the believer.” The church’s foundational scripture is “But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves.” James 1:22 Living Word Church of Open Heart is a church that does what is right because it is right. It is a church where JESUS is LORD! |
